Dedication

Courage, Boldness and Action…At the right time and for the right reasons....That’s it. That’s the lesson of a lifetime taught to me by people who did what they knew to be right, just because they knew it to be right.

My parents built a lifetime together with a shared vision and sense of purpose in their family. With a mutual commitment not to allow their own family to become a continuation of their childhood experiences …they forged a "new" family for their children by their own choices and expectations.

A big part of this mental picture for their children was college…even though they hadn’t ever considered college an option nor had the generations before them.

Because of this my father went out the door every time he was called for a police detail no matter the time of day or night. And my mother…well at times she could talk of nothing else but going through the door for education.

“You…are going to college” She constantly repeated. “It will allow you to open doors and it gives you options you won’t have without it.” Her conviction was real and powerful...as powerful as any belief I have ever witnessed.
